VOLTWATCH IN USE
VoltWatch provides a constant visual indication of the state of a ‘12 Volt’ (lead/acid) battery with a row of 10 coloured LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes). The colours give an immediate and obvious indication of battery state. Connection couldn’t be simpler, we even supply lengths of suitable connection wire.
Only one or two LEDs are lit at any time, there being some overlap between adjacent LEDs. Their comparative brightness gives a better indication of State of Charge (voltage) at key points. When the amber (R) first lights, the green (1/2) will also be lit. If the green has gone out, it is definitely time to start charging. Similarly, if both the the top green and red (!) are continuously lit together, there is no cause for concern, but there would be if the red were lit on its own.
Handy A5 reference cards can be downloaded as PDF files, in either Landscape or Portrait formats. To download the file, click on the required format above and Save it to your hard-drive. Then print the file (2 pages) on both sides of a piece of thin card or stout paper and have it laminated.
The display LEDs are bright enough to be visible in all but the brightest direct sunlight, but do not produce enough light to affect night vision - indeed, a strategically placed VoltWatch doubles as a safety light! Power consumption is very low (less than 20mA).
Calibration
Every unit is tested and calibrated to set the changeover from Green 9 to Red 10 (overcharge) at 14.45(± 0.03)V and from Green 5 to Yellow 4 at 12.20(± 0.03)V.
Protection
VoltWatch is designed for marine use, manufactured in England from quality components, tested and calibrated before being protected by a special moisture proof coating. VoltWatch is proof against reversed connection and has an absolute maximum rating of 35V. If protected by a 100mA fuse as recommended, it should take no harm from accidental immersion even if prolonged and starting with the power connected. If a VoltWatch unit is immersed, a subsequent rinse in warm fresh water and drying is recommended.
5 Year Warranty
Any VoltWatch unit which fails within 5 years of the date of purchase should be returned post paid. If it does not appear to have been unduly neglected, abused or misused, it will be repaired or replaced free of charge and the postage refunded (Europe only).

Since the conditions of installation and use are outside our control no liability can be accepted under any circumstances for any loss injury or other consequence arising from the use of this product.
